上田駅が営業を開始したのは明治２１年。平成６年１２月には、北陸新幹線開業に伴う新駅舎として生まれ変るため、取り壊された。
ありがとう上田駅、そして新幹線駅へ
平成６年１２月１１日、取り壊し前の旧ＪＲ上田駅舎前にて「ありがとう上田駅、そして新幹線駅へ」のセレモニーが行なわれました。
